For the Shrimp
  • 1 pound Shrimp (peeled and deveined) Use fresh or properly thawed shrimp for best results.
  • 2 tablespoons Butter Can use olive oil for a lighter option.
  • 3 tablespoons Cajun Seasoning Adjust spice level as preferred.
For the Garnish
  • to taste Fresh Parsley or Cilantro Optional but recommended.

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Prepare Cajun Seasoning by whisking together 1 tablespoon of paprika, 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, ½ teaspoon of cayenne pepper, and a pinch of your favorite dried herbs in a bowl.
  2. Cook Rice by combining 1 cup of uncooked long grain rice, 2 cups of chicken broth, and 2 minced garlic cloves in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes.
  3. While the rice cooks, season Shrimp by placing 1 pound of shrimp in a bowl, drizzling with half of the melted butter and half of the Cajun seasoning, and tossing to coat.
  4. Combine Ingredients by folding the seasoned shrimp into the almost fully cooked rice, covering again and cooking for an additional 3-5 minutes until shrimp are pink and opaque.
  5. Serve and Garnish the dish, stirring everything gently to combine and adding fresh parsley or cilantro as a garnish before serving.
