Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with olive oil or cooking spray.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, add olive oil and brown the ground beef for about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet; sauté for 3-4 minutes until onion is translucent.
  4. Spread the beef and onion mixture in the baking dish. Layer thinly sliced potatoes on top and season with salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, and paprika.
  5. Sprinkle cheddar cheese over the potato layer, followed by Parmesan if using. Pour beef broth around edges of the dish.
  6. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake uncovered for an additional 15-20 minutes.
  7. Check doneness by piercing potatoes with a fork. Let the casserole rest for a few minutes before serving.
  8. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley before serving.
