Step-by-Step Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine the large, peeled, and deveined shrimp with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, soy sauce, and sesame oil. Allow to marinate for 15-20 minutes.
- While shrimp is marinating, lay out wonton wrappers on a flat surface. Place a small bowl of water nearby.
- Take one marinated shrimp and place it in the center of a wonton wrapper. Repeat until all shrimp are wrapped.
- Moisten the edges of each wonton with water and fold the wrapper over the shrimp to create a triangle shape. Ensure edges are securely pressed together.
- Arrange sealed wontons on a parchment-lined tray. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- Carefully place a few wrapped shrimp into the hot oil and fry each batch for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.
- Use a slotted spoon to transfer the crispy wontons to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
- Serve the crispy wonton wrapped shrimp hot, garnished with fresh cilantro, and paired with sweet chili sauce for dipping.
