- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, finely chopped onion, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Shape into 1-inch meatballs.
- Optionally brown the meatballs in a skillet over medium-high heat for about 3-4 minutes.
- Transfer formed meatballs to the bottom of the Crockpot, spacing them evenly.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the beef broth and French onion soup mix. Pour sauce over meatballs.
- Gently stir the meatballs in the sauce to ensure they're covered.
- Cover the Crockpot and set it to low for 6-7 hours or high for 3-4 hours.
- 15 minutes before serving, sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese on top and recover to melt.
