Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, finely chopped onion, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Shape into 1-inch meatballs.
  2. Optionally brown the meatballs in a skillet over medium-high heat for about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Transfer formed meatballs to the bottom of the Crockpot, spacing them evenly.
  4. In a medium bowl, whisk together the beef broth and French onion soup mix. Pour sauce over meatballs.
  5. Gently stir the meatballs in the sauce to ensure they're covered.
  6. Cover the Crockpot and set it to low for 6-7 hours or high for 3-4 hours.
  7. 15 minutes before serving, sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese on top and recover to melt.
