Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a medium bowl, combine packed light brown sugar, matcha powder, ground cinnamon, and fine salt. Mix until evenly distributed.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, matcha powder, instant dry yeast, and fine salt.
  3. In a separate microwave-safe bowl, heat whole milk, unsalted butter, and granulated sugar until melted.
  4. Gradually pour the warm milk mixture into the dry ingredients and mix until a sticky dough forms.
  5. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  6. Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rest for 10-20 minutes.
  7. Roll the rested dough into a large rectangle and spread softened butter over the surface.
  8. Sprinkle the prepared filling mixture evenly across the dough.
  9. Roll the dough tightly into a log and cut into 12 equal pieces.
  10. Place the cut rolls in a greased baking pan and let rise for about 30 minutes.
  11. Preheat the oven to 350°F and bake the rolls for 28-32 minutes.
  12. Prepare the frosting by whipping together cream cheese, butter, vanilla extract, powdered sugar, and milk until smooth.
  13. Allow the rolls to cool for 10-20 minutes and then generously spread the matcha frosting over them.
