  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 pinch salt
For the Decoration
  • 1 cup red heart sprinkles can be substituted with other festive sprinkles

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Melt 1 cup of butter, then stir in 1 cup of granulated sugar, 2 egg yolks, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until smooth.
  3. Add a few drops of green gel food coloring, mixing thoroughly until you reach your desired vibrant hue.
  4. Sprinkle 2.5 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon of baking soda, and a pinch of salt over the mixture and fold until combined.
  5. Shape the dough into 12 equal balls, rolling each in granulated sugar, and place on the prepared baking sheet with space between.
  6. Bake for 10-11 minutes until slightly puffy and set around the edges, remaining soft in the center.
  7. Press a red heart sprinkle into the center of each cookie while still warm.
  8. Transfer cookies to a wire rack to cool completely before serving.
