- Wash cucumbers thoroughly under cold water, then slice them into rounds or spears and set aside.
- In a clean glass jar, layer sliced cucumbers, onion slices, garlic cloves, dill and spices.
- In a medium saucepan, mix equal parts vinegar and water, then add sugar and kosher salt; bring to a boil.
- Carefully pour the brine over the layered cucumbers and let cool at room temperature for 30 minutes.
- Seal the jar tightly and refrigerate for at least 8 hours, ideally 24 hours before consuming.
