Equipment

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Add beef mince and cook for 5-7 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.
  2. In the same pan, add oil if needed and sauté chopped onion for 3-4 minutes until soft. Add minced garlic, ginger, and chili; cook for 1-2 minutes.
  3. Return browned beef mince to the pan and stir to combine, allowing flavors to meld for about 2 minutes.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and beef stock. Pour over beef mixture and bring to a gentle simmer.
  5. Let it simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until sauce thickens to cling to the meat.
  6. Mix cornstarch with cold water to create a slurry, add to simmering beef mixture and stir until thickened for another 2-3 minutes.
  7. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper as desired. Transfer to serving dish.
  8. Garnish with spring onions and sesame seeds. Serve hot over rice or noodles.
