  • 1 cup Onions diced
  • 1 cup Carrots diced
  • 28 oz Undrained Tomatoes canned
  • 1 cup Broth homemade preferred
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
For Thickeners
  • 2 tbsp Cornstarch optional, mix with water for thickening

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions for Swiss Steak
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Mix together the flour, smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a shallow dish.
  2. Coat the cubed beef in the seasoned flour mixture until well-coated and set aside.
  3. Heat olive oil in a stockpot over medium-high heat. Brown the beef in batches for 6-8 minutes and remove.
  4. In the same pot, sauté diced onions and carrots for 5-7 minutes until tender.
  5. Return the beef to the pot, add undrained tomatoes and broth, and stir in Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a gentle simmer.
  6. Cover and bake in the oven for 2 ½ to 3 hours, stirring occasionally until the beef is tender.
  7. For a thicker sauce, mix cornstarch with water, stir into the sauce, and rest for 5 minutes.
  8. Serve the Swiss Steak over rice, noodles, or mashed potatoes.
