Step-by-Step Instructions
- Warm 1 cup of whole milk to about 110°F. Whisk in 2 packets of active dry yeast and 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar. Allow to sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- Add 1 large egg, 1 egg yolk, and 4 tablespoons of melted, cooled salted butter to the yeast mixture. Stir until combined, then gradually add 4 cups of bread flour and 1 teaspoon of salt.
- Knead the dough for about 8-10 minutes until slightly sticky but cohesive. Shape into a ball and place in a greased bowl.
- Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm environment for 1 to 1.5 hours until doubled in size.
- Roll the risen dough into a rectangle, spread with 4 tablespoons of softened butter, and sprinkle with a cinnamon-sugar mixture. Press gently to adhere.
- Roll the dough tightly into a log, slice into 12 equal rolls, and place in a greased 9x13-inch baking dish. Cover and let rise for 30-45 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F. Bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes or until golden.
- Prepare the frosting by beating together cream cheese, softened butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth and fluffy.
